The opening reception of the exhibition by academic painter Šárka Šišková will take place on Sunday, February 8 at 3:00 PM in the Marble Hall of Vsetín Castle.
The composed accompanying program will include an interview with the exhibiting artist, combined with a projection of her fashion, visual, and literary work, and complemented by an author’s reading from her forthcoming novel with the working title Dawn Is Breaking, a New Day Begins.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITING ARTIST
Šárka Šišková comes from Zlín, where she currently lives and works in Malenovice. Since childhood, she has had a very close relationship with the Valašsko region, shaped by family stays at a cottage near Lužná.
Šárka Šišková received her artistic education at the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Uherské Hradiště, where she studied modeling and the design of footwear and fashion accessories. She subsequently graduated from the Studio of Fashion Design at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague and completed an internship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia.
She worked as a lecturer at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, where she was involved in founding the Footwear Design Studio, and at Tomas Bata University in Zlín, where she established and led the Fashion Design Studio at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications and later became Director of the Institute of Product Design. For her independent artistic work, she opened the Bethlehem Studio in Prague.
Academic painter Šárka Šišková is an artist of many talents. For many years, she focused primarily on textile art and fashion design. As a fashion designer, she gained international recognition, and her creations became part of the permanent collections of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. She also worked professionally as a designer for the clothing company Emkay Industrie Ltd. in Hong Kong.
In addition, she devotes herself to painting figural, figurative, and abstract works using watercolor and oil techniques, as well as illustrating her own fiction. Between 2018 and 2022, she published three novellas (in the book And What About Love?) and four novels.

This unique exhibition by Šárka Šišková connects a passion for travel with writing and painting. A compelling visual and audio experience draws the viewer into the stories of the artist’s books, paintings, and travel photographs from exotic destinations.
