The Wallachian Regional Museum is a state-funded institution. The founding charter stipulates that the mission of the museum is to manage collections owned by the Zlín Region, its official founder. The philosophy of our collection activities strictly follows the legal requirements and the internal guidelines of the Wallachian Regional Museum No. 17 (Collection Management Policy - Depository Protocol) and No. 18 (Collection Management Policy - Administration, Registration, Development and Protection of Museum Collections).
Until 2015, the collection of the Museum was divided into two collections, following the tradition: The Collection of the Wallachian Regional Museum, Museum in Vsetín (MVV / 002-05-22 / 282002), which contained 9 sub-collections, 25,479 registered items (entries) and 41,733 movable assets, and The Collection of the Wallachian Regional Museum, Museum in Valašské Meziříčí (MVŠ / 002-05-22 / 283002), which contained 18 sub-collections, 65,725 registered items/entries and 503,644 movable assets. This division was based on the different locations the collections were established by these two previously independent museum organizations, which merged into the Regional National History Institute in Vsetín in 1964.
The entire collection was certified by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and entered in the Central Register of Collections of the Czech Republic (CES ČR) as of December 10, 2002. It included a total of 91,204 registered items/entries and 545,377 movable assets as of December 31, 2018.
The individual collections are further divided into a total of 27 sub-collections, which are described individually on separate webpages as listed here.
