The final event of a four-part series of guided tours of the exhibition Archaeological Secrets of Valašské Meziříčí will take place on Thursday, March 12, at the Kinský Chateau in Valašské Meziříčí. Your guide will be the exhibition’s author, archaeologist Samuel Španihel, who has invited his colleague Adam Fojtík from the Museum of Southeast Moravia in Zlín as a guest speaker for the concluding tour. The tours begin at 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM. For larger organized groups, we recommend booking in advance at spanihel@muzeumvalassko.cz..
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Museum of the Valašsko Region has prepared a series of four guided tours, each focusing on different aspects of the exhibition. Every tour is led by the museum’s archaeologist Samuel Španihel, but each month his presentation is complemented by a different expert guest. Thanks to their specializations, each talk offers a slightly different perspective.
The guest of the first tour in December was Jan Anlauf, under whose guidance the drawings and reconstructions used in the exhibition were created (as well as in the accompanying book Valašské Meziříčí – a Medieval and Early Modern Town: Archaeology). In his commentary, he focused on how historical periods can be brought to life through visual reconstructions.
The second tour was guided by Samuel Španihel together with his colleague from the museum, conservator and restorer Jitka Galbavá Divínová.
The third tour, held on February 12, featured Petr Zajíc, a heritage specialist from the Municipal Office of Valašské Meziříčí, who introduced visitors to the archaeological and urban development of the town and offered an interesting perspective on the work of archaeologists from the viewpoint of heritage conservation.
CURRENT TOUR
The series will conclude on March 12, with Adam Fojtík, archaeologist at the Museum of Southeast Moravia in Zlín, as the guest speaker. Together with Samuel Španihel, he participated in the archaeological research on the square in Valašské Meziříčí, contributed to the above-mentioned publication, and created the visualization of house K515. During the tour, he will speak about these topics as well as several upcoming joint projects.
