Enjoy the new exhibition at the Vsetín Castle! You can admire the impressive original artwork of Ivana Langrová from Santov, who works with sheep wool.

Ivana learnt traditional wool processing from Native Americans, whom she stayed with in the USA. At this time she discovered the technique of felting with a needle, which inspired her to create free form felt art.

About 15 years ago Ivana settled in Santov in the middle of Wallachia, where she has been taking care of a small herd of sheep. She processes and dyes their wool by hand. From this material she makes artworks inspired by her new home, its traditions and its natural world.

Sacral motives, especially nativity scenes, images depicting traditional life in the local hills, landscapes as well and abstract works all show in her work. Beside her typical sculptures she makes unusual felt pictures and collages. This exhibition seeks to show the variety of Ivana’s colourful world made of felt.
